Sunday 7 October 2007

Length: 14 km 9 miles Ascent: approx 400 m OS sheets: 28 & 37

We start the walk on the A941 North of Cabrach (NJ352343) and follow a track that goes through forest at first. A short, steep ascent through the heather then takes us to the trig point at the summit of Scaut Hill (NJ335315) from where there are good views of the surrounding hills. We descend off-path to Glen Fiddich and after a pleasant walk through the glen we ascend the ridge by Thunderslap Hill, from where there are good views of Ben Rinnes. We continue on tracks and minor roads, finishing the walk at the parking area at the foot of Ben Rinnes (NJ284359).

Walkers must wear walking boots, have warm and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions. Gaiters recommended.
