Carn a’ Choire Bhaidheach and The Stuic

Distance 21km (13 miles) Ascent 800m OS maps 43 & 44

We start from Keiloch Car Park (charge of £2.50), NO187913, and cross over the main A93 to enter Ballochbuie Forest. We follow the track to the edge of the Forest via the Falls of Garbh Allt, where we pick up the Feindallacher Burn. Veering off this burn to the south east, we climb to a height of 727m, continue to the col between Carn an t-Sagairt Mor and Carn an t-Sagairt Beag and on to join the path that comes across from Glen Callater. We ascend the path to NO228849 from where we visit the cairn of Carn a’ Choire Bhaidheach (1110m), a short distance to the south, and the rocky summit of The Stuic (1093m), a short distance to the north. Carn a’ Choire Bhaidheach is the Munro, but the views from The Stuic are much more spectacular, looking down over Loch nan Eun.

Depending on the weather conditions and the wishes of the party, we will either return from The Stuic by the same route, or continue around the edge of the corrie and descend off-path through heather to rejoin our outward route near the 727m point.

Meet at Culter Village Hall at 8.15am. Return around 7.30 pm.

Transport by car – contributions to the drivers please!
