An Socach, Munro 227, 944 metres
Distance 17k, Ascent 735 metres, OS map 43
We start at GR 139831 by the forest - sufficient car parking for 3-4 cars (car park on the opposite side of the road too). This circular walk starts heading S/W, following the Baddoch Burn and ascending via Coire Fhearneasg, first to the lower summit and then along the 2km summit plateau to the summit proper. We retrace our steps to the 938m summit, continue NE to spot height 855m and from there to Sgor Mor, 887m, Carn Ghriogair and Creag a Mhodaidh before descending into Coire na Lairige, (avoiding the steep scree slope). We then return through the woods to the cars. This is a high level day out, with the possibility of some excellent views of the surrounding Munros and some interesting navigation for those wanting to hone their new-found skills.
