The Ochil Hills

Main Walk – Ben Cleuch

Distance 9.5km (8mls) Ascent 721m OS map 58

A classic circular route to the Ochils highest peak, via the second highest point in the range, Ben Buck. Starting at Tillicoultry, going through Woodland Park to the Silver Glen. The route initially approaches Ben Cleuch from the south, along a track between the Nebit and Wood Hill. It then curves round via Ben Buck to reach Ben Cleuch from the North. From the summit there is a 360 degree panoramic view. From the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth to The Cobbler in the West. The route exits the hill by the steep slope on The Law. Back through enjoyable woodland in Mill Glen finishing off in the “Woolpack”.

Alternative Walk – Alva Glen

There are selections of shorter walks in the area. One being a walk up Alva Glen to the waterfalls and the Smugglers Cave. These will not be guided.

Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions on the top whatever the forecast.
