An Socach (Munro, 944 metres)

We start at NO 139831 by the forest and head SW, following the Baddoch Burn and ascending via Coire Fhearneasg, first to the lower summit and then along the 2km summit plateau to the summit proper. We retrace our steps to the 938m summit, continue NE to spot height 855m and from there to Sgor Mor (887m), Creag a’ Mhadaidh (804m) and Carn na Drochaide (830m). We then descend into Carn na Freumh and pick up the path that follows the Corriemulzie Burn. We reach the road at Linn of Corriemulzie and turn right for a short distance along the road to the parking area at NO 119898.
(In the event that numbers are insufficient and the coach has to be cancelled, we will take cars and do a circular route, descending from Creag a’ Mhadaidh into Coire na Lairige).
Walkers must wear walking boots, carry WARM and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves and take plenty food and liquids. THESE ARE ESSENTIAL. Be prepared for possible wintry conditions and snow on the top whatever the forecast.
Meet at Culter Village Hall 8.00 am. Return approx. 7:30 pm.
